The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are grappling with internal unrest following disappointing election results and the departure of key figure Floyd Shivambu. Julius Malema, the EFF leader, delivered a powerful speech, making it clear that he is not concerned about members leaving the party to join others. This statement came after it was revealed that Shivambu’s wife, Mmabatho Montsho, had liked a post about the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP), which has led to further speculation.
Among those at the center of this turmoil is Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, one of the EFF’s most prominent figures. His silence during this period has fueled rumors, with many South Africans speculating about his future in the party.
On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), South Africans have voiced their opinions on the matter. Emmanuel Munyai expressed his belief that Shivambu should stay silent and that Ndlozi should consider leaving the EFF following what he described as disrespect towards Ndlozi’s wife by Malema. “As for Ndlozi, he should be packing his bags and leave after the disrespect directed at his wife,” Munyai posted.
Thokozani Dolukhulu echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Malema’s speech was indirectly aimed at Ndlozi. He posted, “Ndlozi must just leave Malema and his slowly dying party.”
Other users, like MzansiKnight, commented on the apparent shift in Malema’s attitude towards Shivambu and speculated about Ndlozi’s next move. Sfiso152 pointed out that Ndlozi’s silence is frustrating Malema, encouraging him to stay put and address the issue internally.
However, not everyone agrees with these views. Valencia Maseko expressed disappointment in Malema’s behavior, describing him as a “dictator” and warning of the dangers of a leader who quickly exposes others’ secrets.
Some, like BafanaSurprise, criticized the EFF, calling it a cult and urging its supporters to seek intervention. In contrast, caponatacommie defended the EFF, arguing that anyone leaving the party for the MKP is an opportunist, as the EFF has a clear ideology, while the MKP is merely a vehicle for a disgraced politician.
The situation within the EFF remains tense as members and supporters alike await Ndlozi’s next move.
